An Arborist, or (less commonly) Arboriculturist, is a professional in the practice of arboriculture, which is the cultivation, management, and study of individual trees, shrubs, vines, and other perennial woody plants. Arborists generally focus on the health and safety of individual plants and trees rather than managing forests or harvesting wood. An arborist’s scope of work is distinct from that of either a forester or a logger, though the professions share much in common. (The meaning as defined by Wikipedia©)
Whether you care deeply about your trees or even if you don’t, a qualified practising arborist will have far more knowledge about how the tree works than your general tree lopper, from proper pruning techniques to advanced tree removal techniques. Removing a tree does not mean you need to be an arborist. Still, generally, most qualified and practising arborists (continued professional development) will constantly be training from tree knowledge to practical works such as safe removal methods.
An arborist can determine health & safety issues with trees, pest and disease attacks, soil analysis and the presence of pathogens.

Even our office staff is pretty knowledgeable about trees because they need to understand what we’re talking about and sometimes probably think we are just a bit crazy!
