Deadwood can be a natural occurrence in trees and may be acceptable. Deadwood can also be a sign of tree stress and dieback and can be a major safety issue.
Deadwood is just what it says, it is a dead part of the tree which eventually will be shed.
Deadwood removal can not only remove the risk associated with it but can really visually clean up a trees canopy. Some deadwood can have hollow sections located within them and may contain habitat. Careful consideration should be given if any wildlife is located within or if the dead sections are stable enough to leave as a potential habitat structure.
Not sure? We can advise if the deadwood is stable enough for habitat, if it needs removing, as well as where it should be pruned back to to give the tree the best chance to heal that area over.
Removal of deadwood should be performed without damage to the tree (climbing with ropes only to ensure no damage to the tree). A good job of deadwood removal is when you wouldn’t know we’ve even done it, makes good firewood too!
